The most wonderful time of the year is here again...Chocolate festival in Vicenza! I love this weekend and look forward to it each October. Michelle and James caught the very beginning of it on Friday before catching the train to Rome and I'm glad that they got to experience a little of it. On Friday night, John Ralph and I sat in the square and people watched while enjoying a few goodies. And yesterday, we ventured out again to try even more goodies. I think it's understood that I'll make one last walk through today to make sure I didn't "miss" anything.
Lovely Vicenza
My favorite tent.
So many goodies to choose from.
One of John Ralph's favorites: truffles
The festival should just permanently post up shop in our square. I'd keep them all in business.
Fruit macaroons, something I could enjoy!
Lots of different truffles to try.
Strawberries with warm chocolate sauce anyone? How about a waffle?
If you don't want to hold your truffles, you can always get them on a stick.
Chocolate cow
Chocolate (solid) squirrel, shoes, coffee pots, clowns...
A great street performer during the festival.
Heidi, Donovan, and Baby with cups of chocolate.
Annnd, the only halfway normal picture of us.
I got several blocks of dark chocolate to freeze for future baking and they had a diary free nutella I'll probably go back and purchase today. Last night I indulged in a big glob of dark chocolate with rice crispies mixed in. John Ralph just went from vendor to vendor enjoying a piece or two at each tent. I remember last year I was mailing chocolate to Afghanistan, so it was nice to enjoy one of my favorite festivals with friends, family, and the hubby this year. Nothing beats stuffing yourself full of chocolate with the ones you love!
