Nashville

Looks like we've found another city to love.

We've been in Nashville for about two solid days now and we're really enjoying it.  The small amount of exploring we've done makes us excited to get to know the city a little more.  There are so many little areas packed with good restaurants and neat shops.  My [nonexistent] bank account might be in jeopardy because I want to try out everything I see.

We've moved into our house (as much as we can, considering we don't have our household goods shipment yet) and have made our fair share of trips to Target to help ease the transition.  After a deep cleaning of the place, things have started to find their place and we're beginning to figure out the new space.

The things I'm looking forward to the most this coming week:

  1. A new bed!  I can not wait to get our new bed on Tuesday and say "see ya later!" to the air mattress.  Never mind we don't have a frame to put it on.  We'll get to that eventually.
  2. Trying some new restaurants and stores.  Our lovely friends Bill and Amanda have been such a HUGE help and blessing to us during this move and they've given us a lot of information about our neighborhood.  I can't wait to ride around and check it all out.
  3. Figuring out the lay of the land.  One of the hardest parts about moving is that I always get turned around with directions.  I usually have a pretty good general idea of where I am and where I'm going, but I like knowing exactly where I am on a map at all times.
I'm in the process of picking out paint chips for the house, so stay tuned for a few before/after pictures of the place!  In the mean time, here is a quick look at some of our adventures from the last two days.

"Hey guys!  Welcome to my new casa."

The pup is really enjoying the new place we think.  Note the air vents she has claimed as her personal cooling system in the above picture.  She has been a real trooper through all this moving stuff.  I was a little worried that all the change would mess with her, but she's handled it pretty well.  She definitely gets a little nervous when she sees suitcases and packing boxes, but she bounces back quickly.  On the plus side, she made a lot of new friends at the dog park today, so I think Nashville is going to be a good place for her!

One of the first things on Ralph's agenda is finding a commuter bike.  We went to two bike stores today, and the second happened to have a 10% off coupon for a local gelato place.  Obviously, we had to stop.

I had mango sorbet, and Ralph had a scoop pistachio and a scoop of chèvre and honey.  It was delicious!

James and Michelle helped us move our stuff up here, and before they left today we took a little walk around the law school campus.  It's so pretty and I love all the old buildings.

Naturally, we needed to do a little agility training around campus.

We also checked out a local farmers market and grabbed a few goods.  Beets, farm fresh eggs, blueberries, and mini cherry tomatoes made their way into our fridge.

For our first dinner in the new house I just took a lot of the things we got from the market and piled them on top of each other.  Thankfully, it was delicious!  I spread some goat cheese (made locally, and thanks Amanda!) on some fresh ciabatta, topped it with a fried egg, some sopressa, and a few of the cherry tomatoes.  Super yummy.  Local food, it's what's for dinner y'all.

So there you have it.  Nashville…I like you.
