On our third and final full day in Tuscany we drove south a bit to meet up with some friends. They were staying in Sarteano, so we traveled down and ended up having a great lunch with some of their family who was spending the summer in a home there.
Apparently it was laundry day in the town. I love seeing laundry hanging out of windows to dry.
I can't get enough of Italian wood doors.
I'm going to be honest, I don't know what these little hooks were for, but they were on almost all of the buildings, so I told myself they were for horses (or donkeys, or mules) to be hooked to.
It was so nice to sit and enjoy a true Italian style lunch with our friends and their family member. We sat and talked for a long time enjoying some seasonal dishes that were just thrown together, but couldn't have been more delicious. It actually reminded me of being back in the south, and having "summer lunches" where you just throw what you have on the table and enjoy everyones company. I couldn't imagine a better way to spend our last day in the area.
