Getting More Learned
So I guess I've been a little evasive about The Who What When Where and Why of the big move that's coming up. And it's not because I don't like you guys, because I do! I just didn't want to count my chickens (or Ralph's chickens, in this case) before they hatched.
If you guys remember way back to last October, when we had our last trip to Munich, it was for Ralph to take the LSAT. He decided he was going to apply for a program that (if selected) would send him to law school and, in return, he would practice law for the Army. So he studied and studied and studied, and did well on the test, but we still had to wait a while to hear back from the program.
Well…flash forward a few months. We found out he was accepted to the program in December and I was so proud of him! Honestly, I never had any doubts. I just knew this would be one more thing he would set his mind to and accomplish. So, after we celebrated the acceptance into the program, we started the process of applying to schools.
We discussed areas and schools that might interest us. He wrote, rewrote, threw away, and started over until final drafts of personal statements and essays were complete. We tossed in a few last minute wild cards, but by the end of January the school application process was over. And then we started playing the waiting game again.
In March we started hearing back from schools. That's when the really hard part started: making a decision. I decided to stay pretty quiet during this process (can you believe it?) because I wanted him to decide what school was truly best for him. I didn't want my preferences or opinions to sway him towards a school that might not be the best match. Mostly, I just prayed that the right decision for us would be clear and that he would make the decision with confidence.
The decision came down to two awesome schools. Both very similar, yet different in many ways. We had never really spent time in either location, and that was making the decision trickier than we expected. While in Tuscany two weekends ago, we just talked through the options, reached out to people at both schools, and tried to figure out what would be the best choice.
Finally, with confidence, Ralph turned in his final school decision last Thursday. So (drumroll please…) in July we'll be moving to Nashville for him to attend Vanderbilt Law School.
I could not be more impressed and proud of all that he has accomplished! He has always worked hard and I love when he sees the benefits of his work pay off. The next three years are going to be big change of pace from what we are used to, but I'm looking forward to embracing the change and making the most of our time in Nashville! I'm also glad I get to finally share the news with everyone.
A big thanks to everyone who has followed along on our journey, sent us good vibes, and prayed for us. We can't wait to continue to share all of the exciting things that are yet to come!
