When we look for our next house, I have a list of "Must Have's" that are pretty much non-negotiables. I love a lot of things about the space we have now, but I've also realized how things could be so much easier if we just had a few extra amenities.
My current list is as follows:
1. Storage space (be it a shed, an extra room, a closet...I'll just take any extra space designated for stuff.)
2. Lots and lots of natural light. I want windows, windows, and then some more windows.
3. A parking space.
When we found our apartment we didn't have a car and we were used to getting around on the bus or by foot. The fact that there was no parking space didn't really bother us. And honestly, for the most part, it still doesn't bother us. That is, until there are days like the last 3 weeks. Days where it seems like everyone and their brother, and their brother's monkey's uncle decides to come downtown and park.
There has been no parking. And you're probably thinking "Surely, there was some parking.", and I'm telling you no. There was NO parking. People were inventing parking places. People were double parked. People were waiting for spaces, and then fights were happening because someone would take the space that the other person had been waiting on.
So, one night after waiting over an hour for parking...oh, you've never waited over an hour for parking? It's similar to waiting for an eternity. Anyway, we were waiting, and this tiny little space opened up. A few bigger cars passed it, and then John Ralph decided he didn't care how it happened, but he was going to get into that spot.
I doubted him, but with the precision of a neurosurgeon, he maneuvered our car into the spot. This was how much "extra" space we had on each end of the car. I wasn't sure if I wanted to call him a genius or a jerk, but since we were no longer waiting on parking, I settled on genius.
He is pretty amazing ;)
