Updates

I figured it was about time to do another general update.  Nothing too out of the ordinary has been happening over here.  Other than the occasional earth quake, dealing with mosquitoes that try to carry you away, and figuring out the terrible parking situation downtown (because everyone is going out to enjoy the weather), things have been pretty normal.

For those of you who don't know, John Ralph is getting ready to deploy.  We've been trying to get in some quality time with each other whenever we can.  We're both helping to plan a BBQ for his company later this month.  I think I'm getting stuck with the potato salad, and coleslaw, and dessert, and....well, you get the picture.  I'm actually pretty excited to try out some new Pinterest ideas.  July 4th is the theme, so I'm going to make a cake that looks like a flag when you cut into it.  I mean, come on...you can't get much more patriotic than a flag cake.

His work has gotten busy because they are trying to fit in last minute business before they take off.  We have been crashing by 9:00 almost every night.  My work has been busy because I'm the only teacher in the classroom now.  Today, I asked the kiddos to come up with some ideas for our summer themes of study.  They had some really good ones!  I think we're going to do "Military" for the week of July 4th, "Planes, Trains, & Automobiles" for the second week, "Space and Planets" for week three, and finally "Oceans: Beach Party" for week four.  Sooo, what I'm really trying to say is that if anyone knows any cool activities for those themes, please shoot me a message!

We have a four day weekend coming up next week and our plan is to make it to Croatia.  I think the nice, relaxing beaches will be just what the doctor ordered.  It's only a 3-4 hour drive to some pretty good areas, so that will help us make the most of our time.

My first visitor (besides the in-laws) is coming at the end of June!  HOOORAAAY!  I won't be able to take off a lot of work, but hopefully I can come up with some cools things for her to do during the week and then we can take off on the weekends.  It's nice that traveling is so easy over here.

We're also celebrating our wedding anniversary a month early.  Everyone pause for a second and think about the fact that it has already been a YEAR........geeze.  But anyway, we figured since it is so close to our first anniversary, we might as well fudge it a little and celebrate it early.  That way we can at least celebrate under the same roof.  We're doing the whole paper for the first anniversary present thing, and I can't for the life of me figure out what John Ralph is getting me.  I can usually narrow it down to a few ideas, but this time I'm totally clueless.  I have a few ideas and surprises up my sleeves, but since he reads this, I guess I'll have to wait until after the fact to post about them.

Anywho, that's about all I have as far as updates go.  I'm really missing the blueberries and Lake Murray right now, so enjoy them both (together or separately) and then come tell me about it.  Everyone have a great day.  Ciao for now!
