Dancing to the beat of my "air drum" solo

One of my favorite things about traveling around Europe is finding the music channel on the TV in our hotel room.

Yes, you read that sentence correctly.

Yes, that is seriously one of my favorite parts of traveling.

I grew up on good music.  It started off with tap dance performances (in my Sunday shoes) to songs on The Lawrence Welk Show.  I think I knew every word to every Patsy Cline song before I knew the alphabet.  When asked to list my favorite songs, I often replied with "Hotel California" or "Gimme Three Steps".  My sister, father, and I perform perfect "air instrument" concerts to The Allman Brother's Band, Rod Stewart, and Elton John.

When we're traveling, there are times while we're getting ready to go out, or right before we go to bed, that we just like to have the TV on.  The problem is that we can't understand anything anyone is saying on any of the channels.  Except for the music channel.  And they love the music that I love!  Music that I haven't heard in a long time.  The kind of music that you never think about, but when you hear it, you remember every single word and possibly all the moves to a dance that you may or may not have made up in middle school.  What?  You didn't make up dances?  Well, then you missed out on some good times.

Croatia had the best music options.  The radio stations were really good.  They had a billion channels to pick from on the TV.  You want 70s music?  80s?  90s?  You got it.  Oldies?  Yes ma'am.  Literally, anything you could imagine.

So, I thought I would leave you with two gems that have been stuck in my head from the weekend:

Come on Eileen, by Dexys Midnight Runners

and...

This Old Heart of Mine, by Rod Stewart and Ronald Isley
