Rainy Monday Updates

It is very rainy and wet here.  I fought the urge to climb back in bed once I got home from work and instead decided I would use the day to catch up on blogging and chores.  With this weather, you better believe I'll be having a grilled cheese and tomato soup for dinner.

Last week was a pretty busy one with John Ralph leaving before 3:00 almost every morning for training, and me preparing for end of the year/graduation celebrations for preschool.  Thursday, I cooked a big pot of spaghetti sauce and fed 6 hungry guys in preparation for their marathon, and on Friday we made the 9 hour drive to Luxembourg for the weekend.

You may have heard of the (earthquake) that was in Italy over the weekend.  It was in an area not too far away from where we are located, called Emilia Romagna.  We obviously didn't feel anything considering we weren't even in the country, but a lot of people here did.  I noticed a small crack in our bathroom wall that wasn't there when we left on Friday, so I'm wondering if it has something to do with the rumble.  You may remember my (reaction) to the first earthquake I experienced.  It's definitely an odd feeling.  I'm hoping we never have to go through anything more than feeling a few shakes.

We are heading to Paris and Normandy for the long weekend coming up, and even though we don't really have any plans set in stone, I could not be more excited.  Macaroons and crepes and baguettes....ohhh man, my mouth is watering already.  We were told to rent bikes while we're there, so I'm going to use that to justify eating my weight in pastries.

As I dream about the delicious meals I will eat next weekend, I thought I could leave you all with a few pictures of our pasta course from our dinner in Cinque Terre.  Food was really delicious there.  Pesto is used a ton in that region and they also have really good seafood and lemon dishes.  As ridiculous as it may sound, we more or less judge our trips based on the food we eat during them.  So the food was just another reason why we fell in love with Cinque Terre.

Pretty much our entire meal had some sort of seafood in it except this spaghetti pasta dish.  Although I could and would willingly eat seafood every meal, it was nice to have a little beef thrown in the mix.

I ordered a homemade cannelloni pasta stuffed with seafood and spinach.  It was so incredibly delicious.  In true Italian fasion, it came out with the biggest king prawn perched on top.  Although I love prawns, I couldn't bring myself to eat this one since it was looking right back at me.  John Ralph, however, had no issue with it at all.

It was seriously the size of a small lobster.

Anyway, stay tuned for a few more posts this week, and hopefully I'll get a ton of pictures in Paris.  Ciao for now!
