We're headed to Paris and Normandy for Memorial Day weekend. It's always nice to have an extra day or two off work. I'm especially thankful for one because it allows me to spend an extra day with my husband. However, I don't think it should go unnoticed that the only reason we receive this privilage is because Americans have died while protecting the freedom we often take for granted.
Living in a new country has made me realize just how good we have it in America. I'm so thankful to have the opportunity to experience new cultures and places, but I wholeheartedly believe that America is the most amazing place on the planet.
I am so proud of the men and women who choose to serve in the United States Military. While in Luxembourg, we visited the American cemetary and memorial. Looking across the sea of white tombstones, I realized how lucky I am. I could not be more thankful or feel more gratitude for the thousands of men and women who have selflessly given their lives so that I can live freely.
"All who shall hereafter live in freedom will be here reminded that to these men and their comrades we owe a debt to be paid with grateful remembrance of their sacrifice and with the high resolve that the cause for which they died shall live eternally."
Happy Memorial Day
