Yesterday, John Ralph and I decided to take a little break from unpacking, hop in our little European car, and go for a drive to some nearby towns. At first we were going to go hiking the 52 Tunnels at Monte Pasubio (I googled it and this blog came up with pretty good descriptions and pictures), but the weather was a little too chilly for it. So our second plan of attack became going to Bassano del Grappa. It's a town nearby with an old wooden bridge built by Andrea Palladio. However, there was apparently a festival going on and no parking to be found. So we kept driving around and ended up going into the valley of some nearby mountains and taking a little scenic drive. Ultimately we headed back towards Vicenza and ended up stopping in Marostica. I went to this town with the Benvenuti class, but it was nice to have a little more time to walk around and explore. We decided to walk up to the castle at the top, which was a pretty good decision, and left just in time for a thunderstorm to roll in. Here are some pictures from the day:
The mountains. See how well you can view them on a clear day?
