Saying Goodbye To The Casa

We had the "Final Out" of our apartment on Friday, and not to be all melodramatic, but it was kind of emotional.  Even Ralph commented when everything was out that "things just got real".  This little apartment was our first home together and it wasn't easy to turn in the keys.  We will be carrying lots of fond memories of this place with us when we leave.

While we waited on our landlord for the final out we sat on the stairs across the street to soak up a little Corso Palladio action.  Our apartment was the very top floor of the white building.  And yes, that's the Silver Bullet sitting out front.

Let's just take a close up at that beauty...

This is the direction towards post.  "Our cafe" is right in front of the car in this photo, and if you take the right by the farmacia, you will walk into the main square.

This direction will take you deeper into the pedestrian zone and shopping area of Vicenza.

Darby was a little confused with the whole moving process and when we left her in the empty apartment to go grab dinner on Thursday night she had a minor anxiety attack.  The poor pup thought we were leaving her behind, but after a little reassurance (and a peanut butter stuffed Kong) she got over her anxiety and has been a pretty good dog throughout the rest of the transition.

After we closed up on Friday morning, we headed to our favorite bar to fuel up with brunch before we headed north to spend a few nights at Lake Como.  I just want to take a moment and say how much I love that it's totally acceptable to eat a massive slice of cake with jam for breakfast…along with fresh orange juice, coffee, eggs, bacon, and toast.

I'll be sharing some photos of our Lake Como trip soon, as well as some final thoughts on our time here in Italy, but until then, I hope everyone has a beautiful Sunday (and Happy Father's Day!).

Ciao for now!
