Tut tut, looks like rain
You know how in the movies a person will be standing on the side of the road and a car will drive by and splash the person with water?
That definitely happened to me today.
It has been raining for a few days now. This morning, I had to be at work at 0530. (Ridiculous, I know) Thankfully, John Ralph dropped me off, but when I left, I had to walk back to the bus stop. It was drizziling when I started, and about 5 minutes into my 30 minute walk the bottom fell out of the cloud. By the time I got to the bus stop, my lower half was soaked and I could pour water out of my shoes.
I get off the bus right by a bridge. Side note: Last year, downtown Vicenza flooded, so I'm hoping it doesn't happen again. Anyway, because the bus stop is by the bridge, a lot of the street water runs to that area. I had to hop over a large puddle to get off of the bus, and while I was standing there opening my umbrella another bus drove right through that puddle and the puddle splashed right onto me. Had I not already been soaking wet, I would have probably been a little upset, but I couldn't help but laugh at the whole situation.
When I was little, I had a pair of "Christopher Robin" boots (galoshes) that I seriously wore everywhere. I think it may be time for me to invest in another pair of boots so the next time I get splashed by a dirty street puddle I don't turn into a "little black rain cloud".
