Krakow

I really loved Poland.  The flight over was really beautiful because we flew over some big snowy mountains.  A lot of Polish people speak English, so it was also nice to be able to carry on a conversation with anyone.

This is a church (Basilica of the Virgin Mary's) that was about a block from where we were staying. Every hour, on the hour, a trumpeter plays a melody which ends abruptly to commemorate a trumpeter who was shot by an arrow when the Mongols besieged the city in 1241.

This is one view from the apartment we stayed in.  To the right of this picture is the square.  We got to Poland on their Independence day, so there was a lot going on, including concerts and street vendors.

Sunday morning, as we were getting ready to leave, (and apparently not wanting to break our tradition) there was a marching band right outside of the apartment for the Global Diabetes Walk.  I still find it hilarious that early Sunday morning seems to be the best time for Europeans to have parades.

We had a great weekend and I can't wait to travel to that part of Europe again.
