Thanksgiving Feast

John Ralph and I are hosting our first annual Thanksgiving Feast in our home on Thursday.  We spent all weekend cleaning and I think we're pretty much ready for "go time".  We're having somewhere between 10 and 12 people over, and there is going to be lots and lots of good home cooking.

On the menu:
Fried turkey.
Real mashed potatoes
Gravy
Macaroni and cheese
Greenbean casserole
Dressing
Sweet potatoes
Black cherry salad
Yeast rolls
Pumpkin pie
Pecan pie
Brownies
(and I'm sure other goodies will pop up along the way)

Our friends Dave and Rita bought a turkey fryer and the guys are frying a 20lb turkey on our neighbor's patio.  Rita is helping me out with the other cooking.  I wish there was more stuff for me to do in the days leading up to Thursday.  I'm really excited to get everything together, but I hate waiting!

I'm also excited that I get to use a lot of our wedding gifts for the first time.  Serving spoons and platters...who knew it could be so fun!

I've already told John Ralph that we can't use the kitchen until Thursday because I don't want to clean it up again (it gets so dirty, so fast!).  So it's either pb&j's or eating out for us until Thanksgiving.
