Happy Weekend

This is a city near us called Marostica.  I went there yesterday and thought it was really neat.  The entire city is surrounded by walls and at the top of the hill sits a very old castle.  In the middle of the square is a huge chess board, and they have a festival every two years where they play a live chess game, using people.  Harry Potter style.  (Ok, maybe not quite as violent)

I also went to a ceramic factory in Nove yesterday.  Here is the website.  Family, you now know what you're getting for Christmas.  I'm talking $30 Tiffany & Co. plates for only $7.  Sign me up.  So many beautiful things there.

The last thing I did yesterday was go see the Chicken Man.  He is a furniture maker and has a huge building filled with the most beautiful pieces of furniture.  You can look at his website here.  If he doesn't have anything you want, you can take him a picture and he will make it for you.  It's all solid wood and so reasonably priced.  It's usually less than half of what you would be paying for something of this quality in the states.  I think we're going to get a kitchen table made by him and I couldn't be more thrilled.

Today is Ikea day for us.  I don't think I can contain my excitement much longer!  We're going to be extremely busy over the next few days, but I can't wait to update when we're all moved in.  Have a happy weekend!
