At the end of last week we got to move into a different hotel. In our new hotel we have a kitchen, living room, storage area, big bathroom, and bedroom. It's like a mansion. Such a wonderful change from our last place, where there was just enough room to open the door and fall onto the bed, or if you went two inches to the left, into the bathroom. No one, not even newly married couples, should have to share living quarters that small. Just imagine how bad it got when we had to add all of his equipment to the mix.
So to celebrate, we decided to have some friends over and watch college football on our big screen TV, in our big living room, on our big couch, next to our big kitchen, where I prepared a pretty nice tailgating spread. I fixed shrimp, made some pimento cheese, cut up some vegetables, and had chips and salsa. Our friends brought buffalo chicken dip, which was delicious, and beer, which is needed to complete the real American football feel.
The first game to come on was the Clemson v. Auburn game and John Ralph was so excited. Thank goodness they won, or we would have had a sad boy on our hands. The Carolina game didn't come on until the next day so we didn't watch it, but I'm glad they beat Navy!
Fixing this tailgate made me excited about the upcoming move into our apartment. I'm already starting to look up recipes for Thanksgiving dinner. John Ralph will be gone most of October, so maybe it will give me time to practice without the risk of giving him food poisoning. Send me some recipes, and once I start learning some good Italian ones I'll share them too!
