Updates and ramblings

Ciao lovelies.  It was a wonderful day in the neighborhood on this side of the pond, and I'm hoping it's shaping up to be the same for y'all.  It has been about seven thousand degrees here, so I am very thankful we have two little air conditioners in our apartment.  You better believe those things have been working non stop.  It also helps that there are about seven thousand (give or take a few) gelaterias within a stones throw from my apartment.  I've actually been getting granitas, or what you may call "Luigi's Italian Ice", instead of gelato just becasue the lemone flavor is sooo refreshing on a really hot day.

I got an email from the Hubs today, which probably helped my day be that much more awesome.  He finally made it to his final stop (which changed from the original final stop).  They are super busy, but he sounded great.  I can't wait to Skype with him!  Please, please, keep his unit in your prayers.  We have made so many friends who have become our "family" over here, and we pray that everyone stays safe and sound during this deployment.

On another note, I had to pay a friends bus ticket today, and who would have thought that the bus-ticket-paying-system would be one of the most effecient systems in Italy?  Usually, to get anything done here, you have to go to one place, and then another place to get something the first place couldn't give you, and then another place to get something else, and then you go back to the first place with all of the items you've collected (probably over several days, because you have to work around their naps), and THEN you can maybe, possibly, finally get whatever you needed accomplished.

Well...we went to pay the ticket on Sunday, but they were closed, which was annoying at first but in hindsight I can totally respect.  So today when I went back to pay the ticket I just knew it was going to be the most difficult thing ever.  HOWEVER, not only was it easy, but the bus-ticket-paying-man was really nice.  I haven't met too many nice Italians in those kinds of settings, but this guy gave me hope that more are out there!  I have come to the conclusion that if the rest of the country would adopt the system that the bus-ticket-paying-place has going on, this little boot could really go places!

Now, in other news, my guest room has been booking up.  One of my besties, Ashley, is coming in August, and Amanda is coming in January.  I also figured out how to iMessage Amanda, and if anyone knows how close the two of us are, you realize this is HUGE because it gives us the opportunity to text each other for free, whenever we want.  It's the small things in life, people.

Also, on one final note, I feel like I've been really slack on posting pictures.  It's just so hard for me to remember to stop and take them.  I'm going to try to make a point of taking some this weekend, so maybe I'll have some to share soon!

Anyway, I just realized how long (and rambling) this post was.  So those of you who are still reading, I hope you have had a great start to your week.  Ciao for now!
