Ciao ciao everyone! The Darbs and I have just been hanging out over here, soaking up the last few weeks in Italy. I've been house hunting to no avail, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that something will come up soon. House hunting internationally is a little tricky, especially in a market like Nashville where things get snatched up quick! It won't be the end of the world if we don't have a place secured before the move…but it sure would make things a lot easier. Allorah, I just need to approach this with an Italian frame of mind: instead of trying to figure it out now, just relax and drink a spritz.
To take a little breather from the busy, I tagged along with some friends and went to the antique market in Marostica on Sunday. It was a beautiful day! There is always so much I want at these markets, but so little euro in my purse. The struggle is real.
One thing I've been looking for for a while now is a big mirror. I'm pretty particular with the frames I like, and I haven't yet found one I'm totally set on. Maybe the perfect one will appear at Vicenza's next market.
I'm obsessed with these keys. Surely I can find a reason for 50 old skeleton keys, right?
I have been looking for a poppy field all season and hadn't found one. Well, on the way to Marostica there were tons of fields! My friend and I are going to go back around sunset one afternoon to take pictures.
After a good lunch, we hiked to the castle at the top of the hill. It was a really clear day, so the view was nice at the top.
This is the view back on the city from the castle at the top.
Lastly, you know it wouldn't be a proper antique market trip if I didn't find a little sursie, so when I saw this lovely, light green demijohn of sorts, I just had to bring it home! I think it'll be perfect for some tall flowers, or maybe even as a drink carafe at a party with an old antique ladle attached? The options really are endless (Ralph would beg to differ).
So there you have it. Not much else has been going on, but I'll keep you all updated as we start getting down to business here in the next few weeks! And again, if anyone knows of a super house in Nashville, I'll bring you back a fine bottle of Italian wine…
Ciao for now!
