Buon Compleanno

This weekend, I had one of the most entertaining and relaxing birthday celebrations of my entire 26 years of existence.  The Hubs surprised me with a trip to the thermal pools near Lake Garda.  It was very cool, but very European.  You can look at some pictures of the thermal pools {here}.

The hotel was located in one of the parks and was in a beautiful setting.  Here is the catch…our bathtub/shower also doubled as a huge hot tub.  When you used it as a hot tub, it filled with water from the thermal pools, so it was nice and relaxing.  We just thought it was very funny.   At first, we didn't think we had a shower, and then noticed that we did…it was just part of the thermal pool.  Allorah.

We didn't let the weirdness of it cramp our style and we embraced our inner Italian and enjoyed our mini swimming pool.  We even made them bring us some champagne flutes so we could pop some bubbly in style.

The Hubs bought us an amazing bottle of French champagne (organic…ooh la la!) and it has inspired us to take a trip to the French wine country.  It was reallllly good.

I tried a DF chocolate chip cookie cake recipe for my birthday cake, and I won't lie, it wasn't the greatest.  A little salty, oddly enough, but we still ate it.

I know this picture is blurry, but it totally sums up Darby's personality.  She really wanted to help me blow out my candles.  That dog is cray.

And the cherry on top of it all was my lovely present from the Hubs.

He got me a beautiful strand of pearls.  He said he thought they would be lovely for me to wear to the formal events we have to attend.  How thoughtful.

It was definitely a birthday for the record books.  I look forward to seeing all that 26 has to offer.
