This week has flown by already. I honestly don't know where the time has gone lately. One day it's Monday, and then you blink, and all of a sudden you're at the end of the month wondering how in the world you got there. I feel like I've been so busy, but I don't have a lot to show for it. Don't you hate that?
Anyway, I thought today I would take a second to breathe and comment on some of the things I'm thankful for. It seems fitting, especially since we're starting to put together Thanksgiving plans (it's just around the corner). Something about this time of the year makes you remember all the good things in your life.
- I'm thankful for my fluffy little four legged friend. Sure, she can be a huge pain in my butt 75% of the time, but she has also been a blessing in disguise. I wake up earlier and get out of the house a lot more, resulting in me enjoying more of my day. By having her, I've also made advances in my Italian language skills, even if it's only how to say "cute", "soft", "tired", and "terrible". And, if nothing else, she just makes me laugh with her quirky looks.
- I'm thankful for a hardworking husband. Yes, I'm guilty for getting frustrated for the lack of time we actually get to spend together, but when I stop to think about it, I realize he just doing all he can now, so that we can eventually have a relatively relaxing life. It's a lot better than being stuck with a lazy slob. He works hard for the money, y'all.
John Ralph taking a break from work. We decided to take control of the situation, and when Dad works late or has to go in on the weekends, we go to the office to see him. Everyone needs a work break to play fetch every so often.
- I'm thankful I live in a beautiful place. Every day I see something that's just breathtaking. Whether it's walking around in the square beside our house, or going on small day trips to cities nearby, I'm constantly amazed by how beautiful things are here. I'll definitely miss this place when we leave.
A large statue featuring La Rua, or The Wheel, is displayed in the main square every September. It's beautiful. (More information on La Rua can be found here.)
Y'all, the music may be a little dramatic, but someone shared this video with me, and I think it captures the beauty of our mountains phenomenally. They really are that gorgeous.
- Lastly, I'm thankful I live in a pretty safe location. I've never had to worry about much. Reading things in the news, and seeing pictures of kids who live in war torn countries makes me thankful that I'm comfortable. I don't have to be fearful of leaving my house. I don't have to worry about how I'll find my next meal. I don't have to wonder whether or not today is the day my house will be bombed. Things could be a lot worse, so I try to count my blessings.
So, those are a few things I'm thankful for. It's important to reflect every once in a while and figure out what things really matter.
Hope you all have a happy Thursday. Take a little time today to think about what you're thankful for. Ciao for now!
I love how Darby's version of sitting doesn't require her to actually stop moving. She wild.
