Shake, Rattle, & Roll
I had a quite unusual experience interrupt my morning routine today. I was putting on my makeup when I started feeling a little shaky. Sometimes my heart beats really hard and things feel a little shaky, so I thought I was just having another one of those episodes. Then I noticed the water in my glass was moving around, and the TV was shaking, and the plates were rattling, and the umbrella propped against the wall fell on the floor, and the windows to the church across the street were rattling. And THEN I realized that HOLY CRAP THIS IS AN EARTHQUAKE!!
I just stood there for a second thinking "Ok, Jessica, this is an earthquake...you should probably put on shoes...and what did they tell you in Kindergarten? Get under a table? Door frame?"
By the time I worked through my thoughts the whole thing was over, but for about 10 seconds I really had no clue what on earth I was supposed to do on the 5th floor of our building during an earthquake.
So I did what any wife would do and I decided to call my husband. John Ralph didn't even believe me at first, but don't worry, I googled an earthquake tracker, and sure enough I was right. Small earthquake tremors in Vicenza, Italy. Verona had a larger one last night. Plus, once I got to work I asked people if they felt it.
It turns out I'm not the only crazy lady wobbling around her apartment wondering whether or not she should duck and cover or stop, drop, and roll.
