5 Ways To Get Through Winter

We woke up to another 3 inches of snow this morning and if Darby hadn't been as excited as a kid on Christmas I probably would have bah-humbuged my way back to bed.

It's not that I don't like the snow.  It's pretty….and….pretty.  I just really like Spring a lot more.  Walking to smell the flowers is much more enjoyable than slipping and sliding your way across icy sidewalks.

So, to combat this winter weather I've made a list of 5 ways to rid yourself of the winter blues.

1.  Relaxing at "the spa".  One of the things I hate most about the winter is the fact that my skin turns into sandpaper.  To combat this, I like to treat myself to a spa day (at home) at least once a week.  It's a great way to rejuvenate both my mind and body.  I was gifted Julep's Glycolic Hand Scrub and love to use it followed by my L'Occitane Shea Butter Rose Heart Hand Cream.  I also can not even tell you how much I am in love with the Honest Company's Organic Body Oil.  I use it in the shower, and it works wonders locking moisture into my dry winter skin.

2.  Spring cleaning.  I realize the word "cleaning" seems like an oxymoron when talking about how to get rid of the winter blues, but hear me out.  Using a cold, gray day trapped inside to deep clean and organize can significantly boost your mood.  Light some candles, put on your favorite music, and dust away the cobwebs that have collected over the winter.  Make room for a few new spring clothes by purging your closet of things you didn't wear over the past season.  Plus, donating items to someone who can get more use out of them is always a feel good activity.

3.  Bring the outdoors in.  Just because the ground is covered in slush doesn't mean you can't have spring inside your house!  Grab a bouquet of flowers when you go to pick up milk and bread groceries and your indoors will instantly brighten up.

4.  Reading isn't just for the beach.  Sometimes we just need an escape from the cold, but let's face it, Bora Bora isn't exactly easy to get to.  Don't wait for your summer beach trip to catch up on your reading.  Get your escape by burying your nose in a good book.  Currently, I'm looking forward to reading #GirlBoss, Yes Please, and Not That Kind Of Girl.

5.  Get moving.  I am the worst at working out during the winter (ok, the warmer months aren't that much better).  This winter has probably been my worst ever, because I have had ZERO motivation to do anything even slightly physical.  However, getting moving really helps those feel-good brain chemicals kick into action.  I guess if I'm going to bake vegan carrot cake and cheesecake brownies I better get to steppin'.

So how are you pushing through this last bit of winter weather?  Only 15 days until Spring!
