Ciao! Another week has passed here in the The Boot, and it was filled to the brim with a whole bunch of activities. My photography class got off to a great start and I've already learned a lot. Mostly, what the heck all those buttons on my camera mean. Each week we have "homework" and last week we worked on how to take pictures with something focused in the front and blurry in the back, and vice versa. Here are two examples:
Blurry in the front, focused in the back.
Blurry in the back, focused in the front.
I'm certainly no professional, but I'm mainly trying to learn how to use my camera and understand the way it works. Maybe by the end of this, I'll be focusing on what is actually in my pictures.
On Saturday, I participated in a world wide photo walk. It was really rainy and dreary, so I wasn't super inspired to take a lot of photos, but for some reason I was in love with the graffiti I saw.
"I dance the way I feel" My favorite graffiti in our city.
"Ti amo" I love you is beautiful in every language.
My reflection at Benneton with graffiti underneath.
This week our homework is a street scene, a sunset or sunrise, and a silhouette. I'm hoping the weather cooperates enough for me to get a lovely sunset and I have a few ideas brewing in my head for the other two. We'll see if I can pull it all off.
In other news, I've been searching for some new furniture for our house. Mostly, I would like a buffet or sideboard to go on an empty wall in our dining/living room. We need some extra lighting in that part of the house, so I need something to put a lamp or two on. The monthly antique market was in our square today and I found this beauty. It's a solid walnut piece from the 1800s that has been refinished. However, I didn't commit just yet. I've emailed a few people to see if it's worth the 950 euro pricetag.
I would like to get an interesting piece of furniture from Italy to take home with us. We'll see if this is it!
I'm also excited to say that our Thanksgiving trip to London is booked!! John Ralph got me some Hunter wellies for me to splash around in while we're there. I had some galoshes when I was a little girl and wore them everywhere. I affectionately called them my Christopher Robin boots. Whenever Christopher Robin pulled on his big boots, an adventure was sure to happen. I can only imagine what kind of adventures will unfold for us while we're there!
I'm wondering if I should also get a Christopher Robin hat?
I've got another busy week ahead of me, full of meetings, classes, and training, but hopefully it will be a good one! Ciao for now!
Great Post and pictures! And get a hat!!
