Hello? Remember us? Is anyone still out there?
The hubby told me if I didn't post again soon I would lose my "following". Haha!
Not too much has been happening on this side of the puddle, but I'll update on a few things.
Since we're not going to be here for Christmas, we decided we shouldn't get a tree and decorate. I was a little bummed about this for different reasons (it's our first Christmas, it's fun, it's another reason to buy cute decorations...the list goes on). However, we were walking by the Euro Spot the other day and decided to go in. I found a little mini Christmas tree, some mini ornaments, and some ribbon...wait for it...for UNDER 5 EURO!!
I'm so excited that I do get to have a tree this year! Now if we only had a place to hang out stockings...
(Yes, that is the Newberry Magazine, Holiday edition, on our coffee table. And yes, John Ralph and I are on page 44).
On Saturday we had the 1st Battalion Ball. I think we cleaned up pretty nice. (Those are our friends Graham and Heather) I had to watch a few YouTube videos to learn how to curl my hair. Before we left the house it looked awesome, however after walking in the rain, all hope was lost and it went back to being straight with a little wave and frizz.
The food was excellent, but there was SOO MUCH. We had polenta and sauteed mushrooms to start. Then lasagna. Then risotto. Then pork, potatoes, and some sort of bean. Then an apple citrus tart for dessert. And wine and prosecco. So. Much. Food.
But of course, we "had" to eat it all. I compared it to being at Memaw's. You can't not eat it. It's there and it's good...so you have to clean your plate.
Next weekened we're going to a Christmas Market in northern Italy in a town called Merano. It should be a really good one. I'm still looking for a nice nativity scene and a few more Christmas presents.
I'm also going to be baking some holiday treats to take to John Ralph's office later this week. I'm doing Buckeyes, chocolate covered pretzels, spice cake, brownies, and peppermint bark. I'll be sure to post some pcitures of how everything turns out.
Only two more weeks before we come home. Our schedule is already pretty full for our visit, but I can't wait to see everyone and just be back in AMERICA!!
That's all of our updates. Ciao for now!
